College of Science Student Success Center (CoS-SSC) hosts Sparta Camp (Frosh) and Spartan Experience for Transfers (SET) group orientation advising for newly admitted students during their scheduled orientation.

Sparta Camp Student Orientation Advising

College of Science Student Success Center (CoS-SSC) Orientation Advising is group advising for incoming declared College of Science Students hosted during Day 2 of Sparta Camp. College of Science first-year students will be invited to an Orientation Advising Canvas course. Students must log in to their to view and accept this invitation.

Prepare for Orientation

To the best of your availability, CoS-SSC recommends the following tasks be completed at least 1 week before scheduled Sparta Camp to avoid enrollment delays during Orientation Advising:

  1. Review your and complete all outstanding tasks
  2. Complete Spartan Link Online Orientation Module
  3. Complete the Precalculus Proficiency Assessment (PPA) and/or submit any external credit (official transcripts and/or AP/IB official scores, if available to you) directly to ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ for processing, posting, and approval
  4. Complete the Reflection on College Writing (RCW) by the deadline
  5. Review your and for any additional tasks to complete before Sparta Camp Orientation
  6. Plan your involvement with campus life, STEM programming, and health and wellness student services

Spartan Experience for Transfers (SET) Orientation Advising

College of Science Student Success Center (CoS-SSC) SET Orientation Advising is group advising for incoming transfer students (community college and four-year institution transfers) with declared majors in the College of Science. 

College of Science transfer students will be invited to a SET Orientation Advising Canvas course. Students must log in to their to view and accept this invitation.

Post-Orientation Advising

Post Orientation Academic Advising appointments are for students who have completed their Summer 2025 Sparta Camp or SET Orientation. Appointments can be scheduled through .

Notice to students:

CoS-SSC Advising will be limited if your transfer credit report is not complete and accurate. If you are completing a course during the summer, you are required to send official transcripts with final grades to ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ for approval, processing, and posting. 

±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Articulation Agreements must be followed for and/or completion at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥.

Students who have completed courses at an institution that does not meet ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Articulation Agreements can petition with Undergraduate Education for General Education or College of Science for Major Course completion upon transferring their credits. Consult with CoS-SSC advisor for more information.

Change of Major Interest

Students cannot pursue a change of major during orientation.

Students will be required to meet all change of major requirements, including completion of one semester of coursework at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥, to be eligible to submit an application.
