Eduardo OntiverosDaniel P. Lomio Scholarship

Recipient: Eduardo Ontiveros

Graduation Date: Spring 2026

I am truly honored and humbled to have been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Daniel P. Lomio Memorial Scholarship. Words cannot fully express how much this generous award means to me as a first-generation Latino student. This scholarship not only alleviates some of the financial burdens of pursuing my education but also motivates me to continue working toward my academic and professional goals with even more determination.

My journey at San Jose State University has been both a challenging and transformative experience! As the first in my family to attend college, I've faced various obstacles, from financial difficulties to juggling my academic responsibilities with personal commitments. Despite these challenges, my passion for justice and the desire to make a meaningful difference in my community have always propelled me forward. Right now, I'm working toward my Master's in Justice Studies, and I feel so fortunate to connect with a wonderful community of diverse scholars and professors who genuinely support my growth.

Looking ahead, I aim to continue my education by pursuing a career in probation and law, eventually attending law school to obtain my JD. With my education, I can contribute to meaningful reform in the justice system and serve as an advocate for those who may not have a voice. This scholarship will play a crucial role in helping me achieve these goals, and I am committed to using the knowledge and experience I gain to give back to my community, especially by assisting others to navigate the complex systems I have encountered.

Once again, thank you to the family and friends of Daniel P. Lomio for their generosity and belief in my potential. I will carry forward their legacy in the work I do, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity this scholarship has given me. I hope that one day, I can give back to the scholarships of the Justice Studies program.
